Every time a home is bought or sold through our program, 10% of the realtor’s commission is donated to a nonprofit chosen by the client. It’s a simple, no-cost way for nonprofits to generate funding, build stronger connections, and amplify their impact.This mission is personal to me. When my parents weren’t able to raise my siblings and me, my grandparents stepped in, giving up their retirement plans to provide us with a home in California. Growing up without a traditional family structure—and navigating personal struggles, including addiction—wasn’t easy. I often felt different from my peers and struggled with self-esteem. But those challenges taught me the power of community, the importance of second chances, and how showing up for others can change lives.One of the more meaningful influences in my life came from being part of the Big Brothers Program of Los Angeles. Having a mentor who consistently showed up for me every other week left a lasting impact. That experience motivated me to become a Big Brother in my late twenties, offering the same kind of support and guidance to someone else.Years later, in 2006, I joined my daughter on a fundraising bike ride for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS). I had no idea at the time how deeply connected I would become to that mission. Today, my partner is undergoing treatment for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and I’ve seen firsthand how research funded by organizations like LLS has saved lives. These experiences—both as a mentor and fundraiser—reinforced my belief in the importance of giving back and inspired the creation of RealtyCares.Through RealtyCares, nonprofits can benefit not by asking for donations, but by encouraging their supporters to work with our trusted realtors.
