Washington Resource is a nonprofit management and professional services firm that has provided services to trade associations, professional societies, industry consortiums, user-groups, foundations, corporations, businesses, and individuals. Chief executive at the West Virginia Forestry Association represents businesses involved in forest management, timber production, firewood production, harvesting, and wood product manufacturing. WVFA members are concerned with protecting the environment, as well as enhancing the future of West Virginia’s forests through multiple-use management. - As Executive Director, I moved WVFA from a nonprofit that lost money for a decade into the black within six months of employment, honchoed the move of the headquarters to the state capital, established their e-newsletter, established their organizational magazine and successfully guided legislation wins for the industry - including the termination of state severance taxes - without losses during my years there.

The Forest Landowners Tax Council (FLTC) is an independent, national non-profit organization dedicated to providing an effective and unified voice for non-industrial, private forest (NIPF) landowners on federal tax issues. The Council seeks to provide technical research to identify opportunities for timber tax improvements. FLTC is also a source of education for those who wish to learn more about timber taxation. Membership is open nationwide to all individuals, associations, or organizations interested in supporting the mission of the FLTC. - Highlights of this Director's efforts include being lead lobbyist for Congressional passage of a law to allow capital gains treatment of "lump sum" sales of timber and working in collation to substantially reduce inheritance taxes for landowners and family businesses.

FLA stands tall for the rights of America’s forest owners, guarding and promoting those rights to manage their lands. Since 1941, FLA has provided its members, who own and operate more than 40 million acres of forestland in 48 states, with education, information, and national grassroots advocacy, which enables them to sustain their forestlands across generations. FLA’s outreach on behalf of private forest landowners nationwide enhances their forestland management practices and stewardship, and provides peace of mind that they have an advocate working to bring them richly deserved compensation for their work that safeguards America’s forestlands. - As lobbyist for FLA, during these years, Stewart advocated property and other landowner rights, wrote Congressional testimony and wrote national legislation including as a substantial contributing-author of President George W. Bush's "Healthy Forests Initiative."

The Southern Forest Products Association was founded in 1915 as the Southern Pine Association. Today, SFPA is recognized as one of the foremost trade organizations in the forest products industry and represents Southern Pine lumber manufacturers from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. SFPA's members produce about 43% of the Southern Pine lumber in the United States. Our office is located in the metro New Orleans area with marketing operations serving the entire United States.
