My journey in the alarm industry started in 1989, when I started as a trainee engineer at Safeguard Electronics, Consett. During my 6 years at Safeguard I was fortunate to be able to learn the trade, working to Nacoss standards, with some excellent engineers. At the tender age of 18, I completed my training and started my stint as an installation engineer.The temptation of a larger pay packet saw my departure from Safeguard in 1995, to start employment with Wares Security, Gateshead. The next 12 months we’re a real wake-up call for a naive young lad. Spending the winter months trudging through mud on building sites, carrying generators, whilst first fixing new build houses was not my most enjoyable time in the industry.In 1996 I made the decision to attempt the startup of my own business, thus Futura Security was formed. Unfortunately, the mid 1990’s was not an easy period for a young baby faced lad to establish an alarm company.In 1997, I was offered the challenge of starting an alarm company for an existing manned guarding company - CMC Security Services. During my 2 years with CMC, I was able to establish a small intruder alarm division with SSAIB & Northumbria Police approval.In March 1999, in order to provide an improved financial environment for my family, I made the decision to start employment with Cortech Fire and Security Systems Ltd, Ashington. During the last 24 years, I have worn many hats whilst working through the ranks at Cortech - Installation, Service, commissioning, surveyor, assistant manager, manager.In 2022 the owner of Cortech decided it was time to look at retirement. This allowed DFP Services, Durham the opportunity to step in and acquire a fantastic business and bring Cortech into the modern world. Whilst retaining our traditional values for customer support, Cortech have now managed to banish the mountains of paper to implement a more efficient online management system.And so the story continues…..…………………………..
