Launch Esbriet (pirfenidone) for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis to select pulmonologists in the Greater Pittsburgh, PA MSA.

My responsibilities with Bayer included launching a novel therapy for pulmonary arterial hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension to key pulmonologists and cardiologists in the Western PA and Cleveland MSAs.

My last title at Actelion was the Eastern Business Unit Sales Training Manager. Responsibilities included product and disease state education for all new sales colleagues in the Eastern Business unit via the Actelion Phase training curricula as well as through field travel visits. Other responsibilities included the initial and ongoing training of Actelion's Therapy Access Division.

As a Therapy Access Manager, which is a new field based managed care specialist position, I was responsible for increasing access and adherence to all Actelion therapies. I received certification as a field reimbursement specialist by Xcenda, the the Amerisource Consulting company contracted to train this new team of Therapy Access Managers. As part of this training I have been thoroughly educated with regards to the reimbursement structure of the various parts of Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial Managed Care products i.e. Prior Auths, Claim Appeals, etc.. Topics also included in this certification curriculum were: Consumer payment methods i.e. Specialty Pharmacy, Buy and Bill, etc…; Drug distribution models, i.e. open, closed and limited distribution models, and Coding and Claims i.e. ICD 9, CPT, and J codes etc.

As a Territory Manager with Actelion Pharmaceuticals I was responsible for the promotion of three different therapies for pulmonary arterial hypertension; Tracleer, Ventavis and Veletri. Specialists called on as a Territory Manager for Actelion were Cardiologists, Pulmonologists and Rheumatologists. In this role I also had responsibility to secure the availability of our products on key hospital formularies as well as provide education for the various specialty distributers that contracted with Actelion.

My professional history includes positions such as Renal Sales Specialist with Abbott Laboratories, where I successfully launched oral Zemplar, a product used to treat renal failure to targeted Nephrologists and Endocrinologists.
