Members of the Judicial Nominating Commission for their District are elected to the position by attorneys licensed in their district. In their role as a member of the judicial nominating commission members, when an opening becomes available on the Supreme Court for their district, screen, interview, and recommend applicants who are sufficiently qualified to hold the judicial position to the Governor of the State of Nebraska so that he may appoint a new Supreme Court Justice to fill such vacancy.
