City of Hope’s Planned Giving department handles inquiries pertaining to deferred gifts, which include bequests, charitable remainder trusts and charitable gift annuities. The Planned Giving group frequently works with complex gift assets and a variety of planned giving vehicles and strategies. The Senior Director, Planned Giving develops and implements capital fundraising goals and objectives in alignment with City of Hope’s planned giving program. With a keen understanding of planned giving techniques, as well as the various legal and tax aspects associated with this form of charitable giving, the Senior Director identifies and engages prospective planned giving donors, and prepares and presents gift proposals to prospective planned giving donors and their professional advisors. Through focused meetings with current and prospective donors, partnerships with other City of Hope directors, and participation in regular engagement events, the Sr. Director helps City of Hope donors—past, present and future—realize their legacy by helping to create opportunities for significant charitable impact at City of Hope.

The position provides daily oversight of estate distributions including the review of final accountings and the follow-up with trustees and executors to facilitate all aspects of estate distributions to Caltech. Additionally, the Assistant Manager applies a thorough knowledge of trust and estate administration of information within Caltech among and is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting information as requested by all internal and external customers.

Oversaw the day-to-day management of a base of clients, reporting personalized financial planning advice on an annual basis. Responsible for maintaining an efficient system for processing and analyzing financial data specific to retirement assets, education planning goals and various accumulation strategies appropriate for each separate client. Proposed goal-specific recommendations based on the detailed analysis of an assortment of financial data reports; provided preliminary observations and suggestions regarding the rebalancing of clients’ investment portfolios based on their risk tolerance, the amount of their savings and current/future financial goals requiring a funding source. Regularly communicated with clients and assisted with problems and questions concerning their accounts.
