As Director of R&D, was responsible for distributed systems data base backup and recovery product line (SQL-BackTrack) for Oracle, Sybase, Informix, MS SQL Server, and IBM’s UDB database environments running on most UNIX and NT operating systems. These products are critical availability components for most of the Fortune Global 1000 companies.• Successfully integrated pre-IPO software startup, DataTools Inc., into the BMC Software, Inc. organization.• Expanded the Engineering group from 30+ professionals, including 4 managers, to a staff of over 100+ professionals and 7 managers responsible for all aspects of software design and development, product quality assurance, product documentation, product support, and product marketing. • Responsible for 100%+ annual global revenue growth ($70 million, up from original $17 million).• Implemented quality assurance, project management, code management, documentation, and technical support procedures/processes. • Worked extensively with customers and development partners such as SAP, IBM, Microsoft, Oracle, and Siemens to create unique 24x7 availability and backup and recovery solutions. • Responsible for defining, developing, promoting and coordinating BMC’s Messaging Oriented Middleware (IBM’s MQSeries) product line corporate wide. Duties included budget, personnel administration, code development, quality assurance, technical publications, product support, and product marketing. • Previously responsible for distributed systems and mainframe IMS, DB2, and CICS/VSAM application restart product line.
