Unlike many LinkedIn users, I don't serially entrepreneu. Rarely, if ever. I don't even eat cereal serially. I try to never serially take myself too seriously…In fact, I don't really do much of anything serially, with the one possible exception of serially kicking some serious creative butt. Seriously…I’m a seasoned creative leader, storyteller and educator with deep knowledge and vast and varied experience within the full spectrum of media including print, interactive, social, animation & video, and new and emerging media like VR / AR, as well as Ai. I’m a creative generalist with specialized skills in design and writing. Over my career I’ve played the role of graphic designer, art director, creative director, director (film & video), producer, illustrator, animator, photographer, brand architect, copywriter, consultant, mentor, teacher, and (kinda) fine artist. I create strategic campaigns that tell powerful stories through integrated media. I’m a divergent thinker whose strength lies in creative leadership, concepting, ideation, and the connection of disperate thought. In my role as professor, I’ve authored course curriculum for classes that teach design history, theory, practice, and technical instruction that has led to many of my students winning awards for their work. My coursework focuses on the development of original creative thought, ideation, and effective storytelling. It’s incredibly important to me that my students discover and develop their own unique voice and style through reflective coursework and projects that challenge and help them grow into outstanding creative leaders themselves. In my role as Creative Director for MOJO Ad® I work closely with students who are tenacious, clever superstars. These are the future industry leaders. Our work focuses on national clients who are looking to more effectively engage their brands with the YAYA™ (Youth & Young Adult) market (18-24 year olds). Past clients have included Mondelēz International for Sour Patch Kids®, Chevy, Wilson (Athleisureware), TGIFriday’s, Warner Bros., Dairy Queen, Tostitos, BestBuy, and Nestlè-Purina (Pets), to name a few. Under my direction, our work has won multiple regional and national American Advertising Federation awards (ex. ADDYs). Specialties: #StrategicCommunication, #Advertising, #Design, #Marketing, #Branding, #Identity, #Photography, #Illustration, #Print, #Web, #NewMedia, #Concepting, #Ideation, #DivergentThinking, #Storytelling. I am an eternal student of, and expert in pop and youth culture, media, and communication in an ever-evolving landscape.

Mu Stratcomm Summer Immersion Workshop – Workshop Designer / Coordinator / FacilitatorUniversity Of Missouri-Columbia May 2018 - PresentIn addition to my other responsibilities as a Professor and design professional, I run an immersive StratComm Summer workshop for high-school seniors on their way to college, all of whom come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. The program has a few goals, but the main one is to give students from these diverse backgrounds an early start towards a career in strategic communication with the hope that it will help infuse our industry with a more diverse set of representative voices in the future. Secondary to that is attracting future stars and StratComm leaders to the University of Missouri and MOJO Ad®. In my role as designer and coordinator of the workshop, I’ve created a week-long intensive cirriculum that immerses students into the world of Strategic Communication through instruction by myself alongside high-profile industry guests, and hands-on application of knowledge through the creation of an integrated campagin for a real-word client. The program is designed to give students a clear undersranding of our industry and a vision for their future place in it. The workshop covers topics of strategy, design thinking, creative processes and ideation, account service, copywriting, and PR. -
Adjunct Faculty / InstructorUniversity Of Missouri Jan 2010 - PresentStrategic Design & Visuals IITaught and developed syllabus and coursework for the second-level Strategic Design class as part of the advertising program and curriculum at the prestigious MU School of Journalism. I worked closely with graduating Seniors to push and improve their work, and prepare them for the next steps in their creative careers including the interviewing process. Coursework that I developed for the syllabus centered around creating three integrated creative campaigns across the media spectrum over the course of the semester. Students were able to choose from three progressive, innovative companies and products. They developed creative work for their chosen company in print, interactive, video, new media, and guerilla components. Students honed their creative process through immersion in a close-to-life experience complete with creative briefs. The end goal was to not only have students walk away with a better understanding of the process of working with a real-life client, but to also have three complete integrated campaigns which they could include in their portfolios. -

Vp Of Design / Associate Creative DirectorPure Jul 2009 - Aug 2010As VP of Design / Associate Creative Director at PURE, I've become the brand shepherd for PURE and it's sub-brands. I've developed and implemented a new identity system, brand standards and aesthetics, and applied those designs to the company's new website and all business collateral. At PURE I've been instrumental in helping to forge the culture and philosophy of a new type of creative company. Senior Art DirectorMartz Agency Nov 2007 - Jan 2009I moved to the Martz Agency in order to further diversify my experience at a full-fledge advertising, marketing, and PR firm. My move here also meant taking on considerable ownership as lead creative for large client accounts and campaigns in a broad range of markets. It is also at Martz where I began to cut my teeth as a creative lead in a true team environment. My responsibilities here included designing and implementing identity, design and marketing plans for bringing new products to market, reinvigorating already established products and brands, and helping to reform less succesful campaigns. I was brought on at Martz specifically to attract and handle new and diverse types of business in a company that handled primarily real estate through my past creative work. It was also my responsibility to help Martz Agency’s high-end real estate clients stand apart in a tepid market. -
Senior Designer + Art DirectorCatapult Strategic Design Oct 2005 - Nov 2007Wanting to experience the environment of a design and advertising agency, as well as expand my horizons, I accepted a position with Catapult and moved out west. My experience at Catapult was not unlike my experience at Urban Archaeology. Catapult is a small company (with a huge reputation), and my versatility proved to be as much as an asset to Catapult as it was to Urban Archaeology. I was able to work on a broad variety of projects for Catapult, from package design, identity design, web design, annual reports, ad campaigns, and even environmental graphics, signage, and wayfinding. – Whew – If you think that’s a mouthful, try doing all that work! I concepted all of my projects, worked directly with clients to meet their needs, executed, art directed, and delivered the final product. Often times this involved managing these projects myself, a skill well developed in my former position with Urban Archaeology. -
Senior Designer + Art DirectorUrban Archaeology May 2002 - Oct 2005Experience here was vast and varied. I started my career at Urban Archaeology while I was enrolled in school at Pratt. I started there just freelancing, working on the company’s old website here and there while I was a full time student. I used my time at Urban Archeology to implement some new designs for the growing company’s website, as well as their marketing and promotional materials. My work was well-received, and I was offered a full-time position after graduation. I accepted, and stayed on with the company, helping to build Urban Archaeology’s brand the following three years, to the presence it is today. Due to the company’s small size, they relied on me to be involved in virtually every aspect of design. This often included doing the necessary photography, website coding, and production as a part of concepting, designing, implementing, and art directing all of the design projects for the company.
