A global role encompassing technical IH leadership, policies and procedures development, IT systems configuration and implementation, mentoring and competency development, risk management and exposure reconstruction. AccomplishmentsDeveloped and implemented a global sustainable IH corporate strategy and Management System in line with the company strategy that established consistent practice across the organization.Designed, configured and implemented, in collaboration with a third party IT vendor, a global IT solution to capture, manage, and report on IH and occupational health data in support of the global programs, leveraging the data captured for program monitoring, reporting and optimization.Served as the Vale core team lead and subject matter expert in the design, implementation, and deployment of a global industrial hygiene IT SAP solution in collaboration with the integrator (Accenture) to capture, manage, and report on IH data, supporting the company strategy to leverage the data captured for program monitoring, reporting and optimization.Influenced government decisions regarding OEL policy (i.e. – crystalline silica, sulphur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, hydrogen sulphide, nickel carbonyl, soluble and insoluble nickel species) resulting in positive operational and financial outcomes for the company.Established a hazardous materials communications platform by redefining the hazardous materials management system across the organization. Safeguarded the company’s financial interests and generated occupational disease savings by establishing an exposure reconstruction methodology which included the generation of historical occupational exposure summaries to support the company in Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) occupational disease claims at the board appeals and tribunal level in Ontario.

These progressive roles at Merck entailed the provision of a full compliment of occupational health and safety support services to address hazards specific to pharmaceutical manufacturing (sterile injectables, granulation, compression, column coating, and packaging) and basic research activities (medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, scale-up activities, clinical manufacturing, drug development, and vivarium).
