Designed and developed a number of small websites for local businesses and artists, employing a variety of methods, including PHP/HTML/CSS/JavaScript, and using a CMS.

Employed as a stand-in vocational training instructor for early school leavers with mild learning difficulties. This involved supervising a class of 20 and teaching basic education skills. I also stood in as instructor for an IT class for adults on occasion.

When I finished my undergraduate degree, I was selected to participate in the IBM Extreme Blue programme. Extreme Blue is "IBM's premier internship for top-notch students pursuing software development degrees". It gives new graduates a chance to work on ambitious projects involving new and important technologies.My team worked on a project which involved creating a reusable JavaServer Faces widget through Scalable Vector Graphics, a new vector graphics standard created by the World Wide Web Consortium. My main responsibility in the team was integrating Ajax functionality into the widget, which would make for a more efficient tool and allow for a richer user experience.

Part of my undergraduate degree involved spending six months at the end of third year working in a position relevant to my course. I obtained a job in Enterprise Ireland as part of the FP61 Information and Support Unit. I had the task of redeveloping the Irish FP6 website, the integration of said site into the corporate structure, optimising the site for search engines and the handover of the site maintenance upon my departure, as well as various other individual tasks. In February 2006, I was asked back to Enterprise Ireland to assist in the addition of another large section to the website.
