From a teenage summer construction worker, to a college student at the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York, I have been able to work in a series of ideal work situations in private industry, the federal government and as an entrepreneur.After the Academy I worked as a ships officer in the Merchant Marine and by shipping out of New Orleans I was able to experience worldwide travel and the adventure of a sea going life.After my tenure with the Merchant Marines, I joined the engineering profession as an employee of the federal government, first in Washington D.C. with the Bureau of Ships, and later with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). I eventually transferred to the Kennedy Space Flight Center at Cape Canaveral, Florida. I was involved in the design of submarine propulsion systems for Buships and the construction of test and launch facilities for NASA. I next worked in the private industry for Gruman Aircraft in New York and for Perkin Elmer in Connecticut.After these positions, I achieved a long standing ambition of starting my own construction company which I operated for over 25 years developing land and building custom homes and condominiums. I retired in 1995 and purchased Metroguard in 1996 when I learned that I was not suited for retirement.To this day, I've been very fortunate in that I never had a job that I didn't enjoy.
