Hi! I’m Frank -- a teacher and lifelong student. I co-founded Inspired Minds out of a fierce commitment to teaching by doing.In a former life, I was fortunate to spend a decade in the battle against cancer as a PhD in biochemistry. I loved it, but success there required me to give up the day-to-day DOING of science. That just wasn’t for me.I have always been thrilled to engage with anyone on science. Teaching was a natural fit for me. But I couldn’t see myself slogging through the endless examinations and grade-labeling of a school system that processes young people like they’re no more than cogs in a machine.Instead, I set out on my own with a passion for personal impact through full-time private tuition. Eight years later, I’m still addicted to that wide-eyed moment when a student says “Oh, THAT’S how it works!”.After thousands of hours of practise, I’ve learned a lot about what lights up a young mind. HINT: it’s not powerpoints and worksheets!Born and raised in Texas. 16 years living in the UK. My own 2 children with learning challenges. Travel and tuition around the world. These journeys have revealed to me a thirst for understanding and a raw curiosity common to all kids.I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to help establish a business that, at its very core, cultivates growth of a child’s confidence and enthusiasm for discovery through exploration. We create a space where kids are free to achieve by getting it “wrong”. I love creating a room ready for the collision of science, creativity, critical thinking, and art -- all inseparable parts of a whole more necessary than ever in the future that awaits us and our children.
