I am a First Class Firefighter for the city of Toronto where I provide Toronto residents, visitors and businesses with protection against loss of life, property and the environment from the effects of fire, illness, accidents, and all other hazards.I have been a Firefighter for 10 years where I serviced a Ladder Truck for 4.5 years, a Rescue Truck for 2.5 years and I’m currently been servicing a Pumper Truck for the past 3 years. I am also a member of Toronto Professional Firefighters Local 3888 where I have served as mentor to new recruits and served on the Human Relations and Equity Initiatives committee where I routinely helped FFs with Hall issues and initiated new ideas and solutions to issues that pertain specifically to the Firefighting career. I am also a Union Steward for North Command Districts 11&13.Prior to Firefighter Fighting I was an Investment Banker for 18+ years where I worked as a Foreign Exchange Trader and as Institutional Sales team member. I have seen and heard firsthand what it is like to be literally in the “Fire pit” as I was working in New York the day Financial Markets hit rock-bottom, seeing Lehman Brothers Bank fail. I also worked in Toronto on September 11th, 2001 seeing and hearing the crisis that unfolded. Being amid the “chaos” is not foreign to me.I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia where I earned a Division I Football four-year Full Scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a minor in Finance. I was a four-year Letterman, drafted by the Toronto Argonauts in 1995 and was an un-drafted invitee to the Kansas City Chiefs Football training camp in 1996.For years as an Investment Banker, I liked my job but didn’t love it. Becoming a Firefighter is something I had always had an interest in because of the comradery, the physical fitness required and simple joy I get from helping others – it’s the one thing I do naturally without effort. In three years, I enrolled and completed Firefighting School and; focused on resume building to increase my chances of becoming a Firefighter. In December of 2014, I got the “call” to become a Firefighter with Toronto Fire Services. I am a proponent of sustainable living, its technology and how it can benefit every day life. I am also the co-founder of a newly formed company called Charge Concierge which focuses on the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure and its availability within the GTA and Ontario.
