A member of the Executive Cabinet, I provided the overall administrative supervision of the Division of Student Affairs. My duties included: plan, organize, and administer student services and activities to maintain academic standards and standards of appropriate conduct. As the Vice President for Student Affairs (VPSA) I served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer, and was responsible for the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs—to include Judicial Affairs, Office of the Counseling and Student Development, ADA compliance, Disability Services, Veteran Affairs, and New Student Orientation, The Student Life Center, The Office of Student Activities, International Student Services, J. Millard Tawes University Center, Center for Information and Visitors Services, Career Services, Residence Life, and Intramural and Recreational Activities. In addition, I was responsible for maintaining oversight of student conduct by developing, monitoring and executing provisions of the Student Code of Conduct, the Academic Integrity Policy, and the Greek Judicial Board including the selection and training of relevant hearing officers and hearing panels. I also served as the University’s co-chair of the Safety and Security Task Force, recommending and implementing policy regarding safety and security for the University. Further, I was a member of the University’s Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management Team, and chaired the subcommittee on Tuition and Fees on the University’s Budget Advisory Committee.

As the Vice Provost for Student Affairs (VPSA) I served as the Chief Student Affairs Officer, and was responsible for the Office of the Vice Provost for Student Affairs, Office of the Dean for Special Student Services—to include Judicial Affairs, ADA compliance, Disability Services, Veteran Affairs, and New Student Orientation, Office of the Dean for Student Life and Activities, Student Activities, International Student Services, Blackburn University Center, Central Scheduling and Information, Counseling Services, Career Services, Residence Life, Intercollegiate Athletics (Division 1), and Intramural and Recreational Activities. In addition, I was responsible for maintaining oversight of student conduct by developing, monitoring and executing provisions of the Student Code of Conduct, the Academic Integrity Policy, and the Greek Judicial Board including the selection and training of relevant hearing officers and hearing panels. I created the University’s Student Organization Recognition Manual, and the Greek Life Policy Manual. I also developed and implemented the Division’s Strategic Plan and assessment procedures, designed and created the Howard University Executive Leadership Institute (HUELI) for student leaders from the Nation’s Historical Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). In addition, I served as the University’s co-chair of the Safety and Security Task Force, recommending and implementing policy regarding safety and security for the University. Further, I chaired the University’s Emergency Preparedness and Crisis Management Team. Finally, I managed an approximate budget of $35 million.
