CurrentManaged a team of 7-9 remote employees in multiple technical roles, including quality assurance engineers, software developers, and product owners. Team members’ experience levels ranged from intern to senior. Direct reports were spread across as many as 4 development pods, each associated with a different line of business and different applications. Conducted year-end and mid-year reviews with direct reports to assess performance, measure progress on goals, identify new priorities, and update professional development plans. Documented these discussions according to HR guidelines. Made compensation decisions by adjusting base salary of direct reports and allocating incentive pay based on industry salary standards and employee performance. Conducted regular one-on-ones with team members to identify pain points, time sinks, and other issues impacting developer productivity and morale. Coached toward solutions and escalated concerns to appropriate parties as needed. Led swarming sessions on production issues, identifying resources that needed to be engaged while minimizing disruption to end users and to the development team. Communicated impacts, workarounds, and anticipated time to resolution to development team, stakeholders, and end users as needed. Performed code reviews and offered technical guidance to members of the development team. Worked with leadership and technical team to revise code review processes to add quality checks, monitor best practices, and push bug catches to earlier in the software development lifecycle. Created job postings, interviewed candidates, and made final candidate selections for intern, developer, quality assurance engineer, product owner, and scrum master roles. Worked with leadership team to develop team-building and professional-development events for semi-annual in-office events.
