Drawing on my extensive background in engineering, I direct and mentor a team of five to manage all aspects of Chemistry and Radiological Controls in the Engineering and Propulsion Plant. I report to the Commanding Officer and Engineer to support ship operational and mission readiness. Supervising the most senior watch stations and managing an entire nuclear engine room, I ensure safe equipment operations and conduct routine maintenance of a nuclear reactor, as well as electrical and propulsion turbine generators, for optimal performance.

While managing Reactor and Boiler water chemistry, I led a team of six staff advisors to execute radiological surveys that identified and resolved issues with radiation and contamination. In order to maximize team productivity and quality, I established effective team schedules. Ensuring safe nuclear reactor operations on a training platform, I instructed and taught staff to safely conduct operations.The following demonstrate the contributions I’ve made in this role:◆I mentored and qualified 300+ out-of-rate and 50+ in-rate enlisted students as well as 100+ officer students.

Pearl Harbor, Hawaii

In overseeing chemistry in boiler and reactor plant systems, I maintained contaminated systems and controlled personnel exposure to radiation and contamination to ensure safety and quality. I scheduled and ensured completion of all corrective and preventive maintenance. I also managed ships’ operational readiness and supported all tasking for a work center staffed with five team members.
