Arrest the heart, perfuse body organs during open-heart surgery, operate the intra-aortic balloon pump, fix artificial kidneys for hemofiltration, fix artificial lungs for ventilation, perform blood laboratory chemistries, participate in heart, liver and lung transplantation, manage the perfusion department.

Karachi.Two years cardiac perfusionist training program characterized with intense academic lectures and holistically integrated clinical rotations in the cardiac OR in a didactic fashion. Individually, conducted over 140 cases of cardiopulmonary bypass under minimal supervision in both adult and paediatric open-heart surgery.

Six months working experience at AKUH, Nairobi I.C.U. department, as a pool clinical nurse: managing critically-ill patients on cardiac monitors, life support machines, ventilators requiring intensive and comprehensive nursing healthcare.

Planning, organization, cordination and the supervision of heart-related health care services in areas of Perfusion services, Catheterization laboratory(CathLab), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU), Heart clinic and Cardiac Surgery in general.

A 52 week nursing experience as a nurse intern with main areas of interest being Critical care nursing, Hospital management, Team leading, Accident and Emergency, Obstetrics

Carried out home visits and health education programmes on clients and families, and took part in the management of psychiatric emergencies. Participated in follow-up health care and administrative duties in the psychiatric unit, including resource management.

Activities carried out included:- planning and implementing preventive and promotive health activities in rural and urban areas including occupational therapy and physiotherapy areas; disease surveillance; supervisory visits to health facilities in the district, management of health information systems, prevention and control of infectious diseases.
