The network consisted of 55 Roadside Equipment Units (RSE) for communications to and from vehicles, two (2) Service Delivery Nodes (SDN) for delivering network services to vehicles, and WiMAX, T1, and 3G backhaul connections between the RSEs and the SDNs.After the deployment, Mr. Perry managed Application, test and validation activities, consisting 25 vehicles and 5 test observes, as well as supported 3rd party research activities in the system. Mr. Perry coordinated all test activities with the Michigan Department of Transportation, the Road Commission for Oakland County, and local police departments.Under Mr. Perry’s leadership, the Testbed was transformed from a Proof-of-Concept network to a stable and reliable system able to support 3rd party connected vehicle related research. The Transformation included working with hardware and software suppliers to identify and resolve related issues. When major upgrades were performed on the system, Mr. Perry managed Regression Test activates ensuring upgrades resolved systemic issues without causing additional problems. Mr. Perry also provided oversight to the development of a web based Network Monitoring System that identified and logged all network abnormalities, as well as notified network technicians of outages. Weekly and Monthly Status Reports were generated from the monitoring site and provided to the client for review. -
