Fundamental to this architecture is the management of very fine grain data elements of only a few KB. This is accomplished through fast inline deduplication and compression that occurs as the data is created or ingested by the system. The intelligent management of such small data elements makes the data mobility and fluidity possible, and underlies key functionality of scale out, replication, high availability, and cloud integration.

- Implemented ALUA support into Egenera's multi-path driver stack.- Ported SCSI-2 virtualized reservation capabilities to Egenera's new hardware platform. Debugged all aspects of the implementation and performed unit testing.- Implemented statistics and data gathering in the Egenera Fibre Channel Gateway driver for the new hardware platform. Debugged driver and user-space code to ensure that the correct statistics were gathered.- Modified the Linux 2.6.9 SCSI mid-layer device scanning logic to support proper scanning for Egenera-specific configurations.- Implemented device removal support in Egenera's multipath driver module.- Perform root cause analysis on problems escalated by Egenera’s Support and QA organizations, devise and implement the solutions to these problems. Worked these problems with a particular emphasis on storage interoperability. This includes the analysis of Linux crash-dumps and tcpdumps to help identify the exact source of the problem, as well as analyzing Egenera’s hardware and software error logs.
