Director Of Application Development

Saratoga Springs, Ny, Us

In addition to the role of Senior Front-End Engineer and Development Manager (see below), I am also responsible for the client-vendor relationship between Railroad19 and one of its larger clients: building consensus on project budgets, resource allocation, and timelines/expectations.I have also taken on a significant role in the architecture of whole applications from diagraming data flow to aiding in the epic- and story-writing process.I have become proficient in Scala 2, using frameworks like Slick (Postgres), Sangria (GraphQL), Guice (Injection), and Play (Web) as our projects become increasingly more complex.I have taken on additional duties in helping to determine data transformation queries in SQL, optimizing views, and writing scripts to seed data for end-to-end and integration testing.

Development Manager

Saratoga Springs, Ny, Us

In addition to the role of a Senior Front-End Engineer (see below), also manage 20+ engineers in terms of one-on-one meetings, yearly reviews, advocating for increases, and determining if PIPs are necessary. Sep 2021 - Sep 2022

Senior Front-End Engineer

Saratoga Springs, Ny, Us

Worked across four enterprise products for a Fortune 100 company in media publishing which helped to manage different aspects of a multi-billion dollar revenue stream. All products went to production and are still maintained and used today. Responsible for design, architecture, collaboration between Front-End, Back-End, QA, DevOps, Product Owners, and Business Users, arguing regularly for trade-offs and consensus that made the most sense and produced the most reliable product.Applications were built on a tech stack of Angular, Java/Spring Boot, Postgres for one client and ReactJS, Java/Spring Boot, Postgres for another. Our process was, in part, Agile, with some planned release dates. Our DevOps stack allowed us to run extensive CI/CD testing: both unit tests and end-to-end tests, and we maintained 85% or better coverage for the life of the products.Products went from business users' slides to Adobe XD/Illustrator/Figma mocks to proofs-of-concept to actual features stories and code to deployment to environments from Deveopment to QA to UAT to Staging to Production.
