Software engineer working on the Blackboard Learn product. This is a learning management system built using the Struts framework with JSP and javascript on the client side and Java code on the server side. Learn supports Oracle, SQL Server, and PostGreSQL databases. New development is being made in the form of building blocks, or plugins, to the core Learn infrastructure. These building blocks are built using the Spring MVC framework.Work to-date includes: - Product Maintenance - Reproduce client-reported bugs and create patches in mainline, as well as backporting changes to any requested releases. These bugs require changes in server side controller level code, client side JavaScript and HTML issues, and database level query issues (generating views, creating stored procedures, and using the existing persistence framework).- New Feature Development + Creating SQL stored procedures that hook into the Blackboard Framework for copying data between courses. + Creating new UI elements based on User Experience requirements and research. + Updating the caching implementation.- Created REST API endpoints using the Spring framework- Built UI in a NodeWebkit application using angularjs.- Write javascript unit tests using jasmine.- Write java unit tests using Mockito and PowerMockito to mock classes and instance and static methods.+ Led the development of a large feature that required interaction between User Interface designers, QA, accessibility, and engineering. + Architected and was the main point of contact for the routing framework used in a complex AngularJS application. Software engineer and systems engineer for multiple government clients. Employed a wide range of skills and specialties to various tasks including:- Worked with emerging technologies and framework to include Groovy, Grails, Griffon, and Gradle. Used Jenkins continuous integration software to run unit and integration tests at each version control check-in. - Translating requirements laid out in FBI Electronic Biometric Transmission Specification (EBTS) into workable data models for use in the Universal Face Workstation.- Wrote the binary file reader that would translate the binary EBTS files to the API created at Noblis.- Wrote the binary file writer that would translate data stored in the Noblis API to a binary EBTS file.- Wrote integration tests that would interactively drive the user interface of a thick client Java Swing application using the Fixtures for Extensible Swing Testing (FEST) framework.- Created an automated report generator using XSLT, XSL-FO, and Apache FOP. This report streamlined a formerly manual process by taking data that was stored with each transaction and retrieving it from the databases and generating a PDF report when the user completed a workflow.- Analyzed government and private biometric testing programs and reports to populate the Mobile Biometric Device Testing and Evaluation Framework. My duties for this were to decide the structure for the framework, perform the initial population of the framework, and then map the framework to the Mobile Biometric Device Requirements.
