Contract Work -- US Government changes required that all Pension documents be made electronic to overhaul Medicare and US Healthcare by 2017. The first step was to run all paper docs through an OCR. We had until mid-2012 to accomplish this for about 11-14 million documents. I was hired because I knew Xerox OCR technology, SQL ML/database programming, and was a data science architect so I could help structure data for GUI selection. Xerox was the prime contractor for this job at the second largest employer behind GM in the 20th Century. US Steel's Pension Department had records from 14 companies dating from 1906 to present that must be maintained. US Steel’s Pension Department is a $2.3 billion entity. Paper pension records took up 15 floors of the USX Steel Building, Grant Street, Pittsburgh. Job was completed within budget, and three months before deadline. Allowed USX to stay in building headquarters, but smaller space requirements allowed sale of building to UPMC for its medical headquarters.
