I am a Senior Research Scientist for breeding strategies with Corteva Agriscience. In this role I create and optimize innovative breeding strategies through data analysis, stochastic simulation and quantitative genetics. I started my scientific career in my home country of Germany, where I obtained a PhD in plant breeding and genetics from the University of Hohenheim. My journey with Corteva started in 2014, when I joined DuPont Pioneer as Postdoc in the Breeding Technologies group. During this time I drove the development of methods to incorporate biological information into whole genome prediction. In 2015 I became a Research Scientist within the Plant Breeding department. There I was responsible for key innovations in breeding methods that challenged decades old paradigms and changed how the company breeds globally. I became a Senior Research Scientist in 2020 and was honored to be named a Corteva Laureate in 2021. Most recently my focus is on studying the theoretical foundations of germplasm evolution and how to embed it into the engineering of holistic agricultural production systems.
