Included were the identification of requirements for and the arrangement of topographic surveys for rehabilitation needs and preparation of tender designs; arrange sediment sampling in consideration of limited time for the design, and arrange field permeability tests for canal lining; complete walk-over surveys and stakeholder involvement; inspect structural, hydraulic and operational performance of regulators, offtakes and other hydraulic structures, canal embankments and canals; identify rehabilitation requirements of the system; confirm crop water requirements, in consideration of climate change and determine the appropriate level of discharge for offtakes from the canals. Prepared a detailed design of a piped irrigation system (inclusing the supply works), taking into account different options of water supply to the area (pipe or river), and different water management options (supply through buffer ponds or directly into system) and operational procedures (high or low frequency supply cycles).
