The Southern North Sea is considered a mature basin and many companies have cut their exploration budgets because they believe that there are no interesting discoveries to be made anymore. In my opinion this is a misbelief. Our exploration skills have grown tremendously throughout the years and I am sure that there are many undiscovered fields hidden out there. It just takes more effort to find them. During my career in the Wintershall Exploration department, my team has made 10 commercial discoveries (K18-Golf, L5-B, L5-C, L6-B, L8-D, L8-AW, Q1-DM, Q1-DN, Q1-DS & Sillimanite), which are almost all in production and generating a good profit, while one discovery is being developed.Including the two years with my own consultancy company, I have 34 years experience in the E&P business. Nowadays, I don't interpret the geological data myself anymore (except for quality control), but rather make sure that the people in my team have all the means and motivation they need to get the best results. The business decisions of my company can be made on the right information.In 2016, I made a career move to lead a Development team, focusing on two discoveries in Denmark. I am still learning, but it is a pleasure to work with people from other disciplines. Since 1st May 2018, I am also responsible for the development efforts of the Greater Ravn field and since 1st August 2018, also for Exploration and Production operations in Denmark.What motivates me: leading multidisciplinary teams.
