I'm currently working on the marketing side of OBST&GEMÜSE. Basel's (and beyond) best bike shop. From establishing a strategy, fine-tuning the brand identity, to launching a new site and much more. My focus is mostly on the visual side of the story.

Lester Cycles is the work of Lester Janssen. A young Amsterdam frame builder, schooled by master frame builders Wim van Kaaij (RIH-Sport) and Peter Serier (Presto, PEKA, Gaint). Lester started out on his own in the summer of 2016. Together with two other guys we ran the store in the centre of Palma de Mallorca. This Pop-up store was open from mid March to mid May as this is high season for cyclist on the beautiful island.

Directly after completing my studies I was involved setting up the bike shop Meesterknecht in the Amsterdam city centre. My main role has been building up and managing the creative side of the store. Starting out with the development of the concept and picking out a name. Later working on a good brand profile. A big part of was working out the interior and building some the furniture. After my studies I joined two good friends at their bike shop Pristine to work on an expansion of the place on Kinkerstraat 14 in Amsterdam. This involved developing a completely new concept and strategy. As the old place was closely linked to a specific type of bikes, single-speed and fixed-gear. In this period I was partly working on the new plans and partly on all aspects involved with running a small store. Buying, selling, organising events, etcetera. It was during these years I came up with the name Meesterknecht, and most rough outlines of what would later became the new shop on Kerkstraat 168.

I was asked after my internship at Rapha to take occasional street photo's of stylish people on their bikes in the greater Amsterdam area. These photo's were posted on the Survey part of the Rapha blog.Some examples; https://goo.gl/hgM88q

While studying in the field Fashion & Branding I thought about what my perfect internship would look like. And managed to get just that, working a semester on the marketing department of the Rapha HQ in London. Combining my passion with my studies. During this time I ended up working together with several departments; marketing, graphic design, IT and public relations. With my versatile experience I could often be a link between these different departments.Looking back this was an amazing time. I've learned a ton and manage to get some hands-on experience. After my internship I've done several free-lance film and photography jobs for Rapha. In 2015 I became an ambassador for the brand.
