Hart van Brabant is a regional cooperation of eleven municipalities in the heart of the Dutch province of Brabant. These municipalities work together on several domains that touch regional interest, ie. social, fysical and economic policies. Civil servants of the eleven participating municipalities form a network to achieve common goals, supported by a small bureau of very dedicated professionals. As director, it is my responsibility to manage the bureau and make the network function properly. I serve the Board of the region and generally promote regional common goals and interests, based on local ambitions.

The Netherlands

As strategist I pushed the boundaries of cross-sectoral cooperation in public administration, both inside the municipality and on a (supra-) regional level. For instance, this included working on closer cooperation of Tilburg within the BrabantStad urban network. A key result was co-drafting the succesfull proposition "MidWest-Brabant Makes & moves", which was selected by the Dutch National government for a Regional Deal.Among many other things, I worked on the cooperation of Tilburg with the city of Breda, towards an 'urbanization deal' with the national government.Methodologically, I work as a broker between the strategic goals of the city of Tilburg in the spatial-economic domain, and concrete modes of action for its’ civil servants. Amsterdam Area, Netherlands

Looking at social issues from a new perspective. That is what Diversion has been doing since 2003. Diversion tackles societies’ challenges through the development of creative concepts. They support authorities, companies, cultural and social institutions, enabling them to connect with society and increase their social impact. My tasks included senior management of more than 20 projects, HR policy and general management.

The Hague Area, Netherlands

As executive director of the Van Mierlo Stichting I laid the conceptual groundwork on which the’rebirth’of D66 could take place, policy-wise. Central in these efforts were solidly thought out content, working on a broad acceptance of ideas and a cross-disciplinary method of work. I was responsible for both strategic content, as for running the office on a day-to-day basis. I acted as an advisor to the Board of the foundation and to the Board of D66.The key mission of the Van Mierlo Stichting is to organize, develop and promote the ideological awareness of the Dutch Liberal Democratic party D66.Main results were the completion of numerous policy studies, and publications on identity and ideological foundation. These Works were translated into training programs. As a result, thousands of active members and volunteers were reinforced in their (political) identity, and were provided with a solid base to work from. I also supervised the process for the party programs for European Elections (2009 and 2014) and for Dutch General Elections (2010 and 2012). As director of the Van Mierlo Stichting, I contributed to a European cooperation of liberal think tanks (the European Liberal Forum). I organized seminars, training sessions and an annual lecture (Marchantlezing). I also oversaw general management of the International Bureau of D66.

For three months I was acting director of the National Party Bureau of D66. Tasks included mainly general management, working on the strategic plan of the National Board of D66, and taking first steps in preparing the party for work on municipal elections in March 2014.

The Kenniscentrum D66 was the forerunner of the Van Mierlo Stichting. It's name was changed in 2011.
