The community of Meridian Township is a vibrant community located along the eastern border of East Lansing and the campus of Michigan State University and in close proximity to the Michigan State Capitol. Centrally located at the palm of Michigan’s hand, Meridian Township has nestled within its borders two healthy and active communities; Haslett and Okemos. A smaller portion of the Township is comprised of East Lansing and Williamston mailing addresses. St. Joseph, Michigan

The thriving community of St. Joseph is located on Lake Michigan and the St. Joseph River. Responsible for $29.3 million budget and 85 employees. Projects worked on since 1996 include: $10 million sewer abatement projects, reconstruction of $28 million antiquated water and sewer lines, new community ice arena, skateboard complex, new city hall, library expansion, four (4)-mile multi-use bike path along the waterfront, $5.5 million Edgewater Brownfield cleanup (now home to Whirlpool Dayton), significantly reducing the cost of government, city-wide sidewalk reconstruction, municipal marina expansion and building a great staff. Other responsibilities included labor negotiations, economic development, City/Township relations, developing a capital improvement fund, grant writing, citizen complaints, regional government cooperation, community recreation, waterfront issues, overseeing 200 acres of parks, open space, and neighborhood preservation, and day-to-day operations of the city.

Cedar Springs, Michigan

Responsible for $5.6 million budget, wastewater, labor relations, grant writing, economic development, streets, zoning, planning, citizen complaints, DDA, city/township relations, parks and recreation, LDFA, elections, water, city commission agenda, MML representative, and public relations.

Jackson, Michigan

First elected at the age of 19 in 1984 and re- elected in 1988 as a Township Trustee in Henrietta Township. The township is located in northern Jackson County and rural in nature. Responsibilities involved budget oversight, police and fire operations, long range planning, implementing capitol project plan and major township hall renovations. Left during my 2nd term to complete a one-year post graduate school internship in Loveland, Colorado.
