Profile bio

About Franky Mulloy

Manager of Biomechanics for the Cincinnati Reds. I oversee and drive the provision of biomechanical initiatives throughout the Reds organisation. Formerly, I was a Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics at the University of Lincoln with a remit for research and incorporating this into industry. I have accumulated a wealth of experience applying biomechanics in a variety of environments. These have been with a focus on how information related to human movement can be meaningfully used to improve sporting performance, and also the human-equipment interaction. I continue overseeing a number of industry focused projects as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the University. I have considerable experience working with industry to inform product development by applying mechanical principles through infra-red motion capture, accelerometers, and IMUs to quantify and analyse human movement. Through this approach, I have developed a strong track record of pairing company funding to development grants, enhancing a company’s research and development activity. Since 2017, I have generated over £900,000 for industry-based projects. Recently, I lead on large research projects with a world leading trampoline manufacturer, as well as a global tactical vest supplier. I have also consulted with F1 racing teams, GB athletes, orthopaedic surgeons, and wellbeing with police forces to name but a few.My PhD focused on applications of biofeedback toward longitudinal gross motor skill development. Specifically, on how we provide complex information on movement to effectively develop real-world skills. Other research focuses include the analysis and use of wearable devices in various movements, and incorporating this technology into the design and manufacture process.

Listed skills include Biomechanics, Strength Training, Sports Coaching, Physiology, and 14 others.
