Her career has been marked by her ability to identify opportunities that empower leaders and organizations to reach their highest potential for impact. Fran began in media as a consumer marketing and business development executive specializing in startups. Early in her career she was the Founding Consumer Marketing Director and Executive Vice President of Parenting Magazine, Founding Consumer Marketing Director of VIBE Magazine, a JV with Quincy Jones, and Founding Consumer Marketing Director of Martha Stewart Living Magazine. As a Vice President at Scholastic, she directed the launch of The New York Times UPFRONT Magazine and led the turnaround of the consumer brand, Parent&Child. Fran was Vice President Marketing & Development at Rodale Publishing. She began her career at The Atlantic and was then Associate Publisher of nonprofit Mother Jones Magazine. Later turning her focus to the critically important sector of nonprofit investigative journalism, she led City Limits News in NYC to sustainability, and co-founded CLARIFY News, an empowering reporting internship in public service journalism for students from historically marginalized communities. Fran has consulted for and advised dozens of organizations on start up, growth, and sustainability strategies.
