Recognised Polymer and Composite materials expert, both within his former company Shell as well as widely within the Oil & Gas industry, having more than 20 years of experience. Demonstrated to be able to successfully introduce innovations within his area of expertise, most recent example flexible composite pipes.These innovations are based on thorough and well managed research combined with a deep understanding of the Oil & Gas Industry ways of working and its needs, to enable successful deployment and operation. Capable to convince and motivate very different stakeholders’ e.g. technical, commercial, legal and regulating authorities, approving and supporting his activities.Working on an academic technical level, demonstrated to have developed unique in-depth knowledge on polymers and composite materials with high relevance for his company and the industry. As an example (re-) introduced several years ago the use of the Solubility Parameter Concept to characterise polymers in typical oil & gas service. The use of the concept combined with mechanical properties and acceptance criteria, enables the assessment of the suitability for envisaged applications with a high accuracy. This assessment method has already been piloted successfully within several projects. Work on refining the method further and induction into standards is actively pursued.
