Clinical Liaison
I was responsible for recruiting patients as well as physicians for this 53 bed LTACH. I was successful in both where I turned 65 to 75 percent of referrals into admissions. I was able to repair relations with a key physician who then began referring 3 to 5 patients a week, some of them direct admits from home. I was successful in developing a relationship between our CEO and an acute care facility nearby who referred mainly to our competitor, and we were able to now share in the referrals. Overall my short time at ICON was very successful where I achieved higher than anticipated goals.
Cardiopulmonary Manager
I was recruited to begin a start up respiratory department in one of ten hospitals owned by the Triumph Healthcare Corporation. I was very successful where we then duplicated this at the other nine hospitals and canceled the ongoing contract they'd had with a co. providing their respiratory care since their inception in 2000. We were able to save the hospital a lot of money while providing better quality care to the patients, which was confirmed to us by staff, families and the physicians. During my tenure, I implemented a drug dispensing, handling and storage policy for the RT dept, after first performing a study that met joint commission best practice and safety standards. I was able to eliminate OT, cut costs on after hour fees for various procedures, ventilator rentals, and rented oxygen tanks, saving tens of thousands of dollars for the hospital. Myself along with two other managers implemented a 4 hour new employee orientation focused on respiratory, ventilators and the trach tubes that LTACH hospitals are so well known for, ensuring we had the best trained staff to care for our patients. Through marketing I provided education to the acute care hospitals regarding our services and maintained successful and above average relations with the physicians. I also led the staff through a merging first and then a takeover by a bigger corporation after which I left.
Respiratory Therapist, Clin Coord. And Dpr
I started as a respiratory therapist and worked on and off for this clinic for 3 years, 2004-2007. In spring 2007, I left my Memorial Herman position to become the Director of Professional Relations where I was able to increase physician referrals from many new doctors in Katy, out of St Catherine Hospital and the Memorial Hermann Group. I was also successful in obtaining referrals out of two pulmonary groups in the Houston medical center as well as St Lukes cardiac rehab group. Census increased as did revenue, and patients became more in control as well as educated about their lung disease.
Respiratory Therapist
I began with Memorial Herman as a PRN employee, moved to FT at their SE location and in 2006 transferred to their LTACH. At the SE location I was able to obtain more experience in the acute care setting, in ICU, ER and trauma as well as level II NICU where we would intubate, stabilize and transfer the baby out to a level III NICU. I only left to go to Frances H Brown pulmonary rehab facility as they were offering me $18,000.00 more per year as well as the title, Director of Professional Relations.
Respiratory Therapist-Prn
Hired on as PRN employee but was able to obtain acute care, trauma and ER experience after having worked primarily in an LTACH. My availability waned as I became FT at MHHS.
Respiratory Therapist-Prn
PRN position with this company that contracted in to different hospitals to provide their respiratory therapy.
Respiratory Therapist, Director Of Rt
I began as a new grad for Vencare, a division of Vencor Hospital. We provided respiratory therapy assessments and treatment to the patients in the SNF portion of several different facilities. After moving to a location that took ventilator dependent patients in June 1994, I worked there primarily, became FT and later was promoted to Director of the unit in June 1996. I stayed there until spring 2001, (Mariner had taken over in '99 after Vencor pulled out of all the SNF's), when Mariner closed it down for good. We took ventilator dependent patients that the acute care hospitals deemed "unweanable", and we were able to achieve a 65 to 70 percent success rate with these patients. We also provided transfer to LTC vent homes, all of them out of Houston, as well as terminal weans when appropriate. I learned to wear many hats here, even going out on the assessments in the acute care hospitals as well as providing tours and checking admission criteria. I also learned to negotiate with acute care facilities to let us run our blood gases with them. Overall I learned much from my seven years here and was grateful for the opportunity.
