I strive to customize my teaching to my students' needs and interests while setting high standards for their work. I place an emphasis on improving scientific communication skills by creating opportunities for my students to read, write, and speak about a wide variety of current science topics. Collaboration among my colleagues is of utmost importance to me and to improvement in our educational best practices; I work closely with my counterparts across the sciences and mathematics to prepare our students!My previous positions have included basic and applied science research in high-hazard and mixed-hazard facilities with a focus on safe, efficient, high-value work. This has included interdisciplinary work for the Department of Energy, Department of Homeland Security, the National Nuclear Security Administration, and others; and has included collaborations among national laboratories, industrial partners, and academia.
