LP Networks is a Managed Service Provider offering an extensive range of IT Services to businesses throughout the UK.As a Professional Services Engineer at LP Networks my role includes supporting the server infrastructure for more than 30 clients around the country and delivering new IT services through managed projects. Responsibilities include monitoring and resolving client server issues, supporting and implementing backup solutions, and delivering server consolidation through Microsoft virtualisation technologies and physical to virtual migrations. Both my experience and structured approach allows me to carry out core functions within the LP Networks Professional Services team and to support and deliver small to medium scale IT projects.I ensure I keep up with advancing technologies which enables me to provide our client base with the best possible service.

With over 6000 employees across the UK, Capgemini work with many of the World's leading organisations in both the public and private sectors.Worked on the Metropolitan Police account as a Lead Engineer on Data Centre Hosting Migration project. The programme was responsible for the migration of 1200+ servers to new data centres using both virtualisation (P2V & V2V) and lifts and shift methodologies. Responsible for leading a small team of SME’s and to review Target Architecture Reports for a large number of server applications and to then verify and identify the correct treatment plan to move and consolidate applications servers to an alternative data centre. Provided technical oversight, as well as managing and guiding others in his team in achieving the project goals.In the TDA architect team for the MET Police I successfully implement a Hyper-V v3 infrastructure using Windows Server 2012R2 providing both host and guest clustering using Windows Clustering, managed with SCVMM 2012. Designed and implemented a Windows Server Update Service (WSUS), fully integrated with SCVMM, providing a transparent update service to all hosts. Translated this into a working process, and carried out knowledge transfer workshops on the various Windows Hyper-V virtualization tool sets. Maintained and supported the Hyper-V (V2 & V3) infrastructure, producing process documents for live VM and storage migrations and for migrating v2 Hyper-V machines to Hyper-V v3 infrastructure. Responsible for discovering, implementing, integrating and upgrading a number of server based applications and delivered a customized Windows 2012 R2 SOE.

Solution designer within the migration stream of a transformation project for an estate of 12,000 users, >100 servers spanning in many UK locations. Produced migration designs and implementation processes for migrating Directory Services (Netware to AD), file system and printing. Conducted knowledge transfers to support teams, and provided test scripts for OAT and UAT. Responsible for developing migration solution designs for the migration of Netware user and group objects to Windows Active Directory using Quest tools and leading the data migration of TB’s of local attached data to a centralized platform.

Local Government Projects and Roles – 2003 to 2009As an Infrastructure SME/Engineer on Technology Transformation programme I designed and implemented an upgrade processes for the Active Directory Domain Controllers, and File & Print servers to Windows Server 2008. This included the creation of high-level server role design SOE builds for Domain Controllers and Print/DHCP, and detail migration and deployment process. Carried out the migration of Print and DHCP services and troubleshooting activities around Active Directory and DNS, DHCP and printing. Responsible for designing a Windows Server 2003 File, Application and Print server for the upgrading of over 1000 servers from Windows NT4 to Windows 2003 for over 120,000 users. Assisted in testing the design at various levels, and updating of design documents. Provided support to the email migration from Exchange 55 to Exchange 2003 for 120,000 users.Responsible for the coexistence and migration of the email system from Novell Groupwise 5.5 to Exchange 2003. Assisted in the design, build and support of the coexistence infrastructure. And carried out remediation activities including user administration, editing of Group Policies, DNS and DHCP and development of user guidesHave also performed the role of Technical Team Leader to a team of analysts responsible for supporting the client infrastructure as per the SLA. Guiding and mentored the team and contributed to appraisals and career development. Designed and implemented Netware 5.1 with Novell Clustering Services to the estate of 400 users. Took on the duties of the Service Delivery Manager which included Problem and Change Management, and Incident Management for all service lines. Built and maintain good working relationships with the client and produce forecasts and monthly service review reports.
