From a young age, I was fascinated by the world of games – whether it was board games, card games, or video games. I liked to know the rules of the setting because when you know the rules, you can always find the optimal solution to your problem. However, when I got older, my horizon expanded, and the world’s rules became more complex, so I decided to study physics, which describes the laws of nature and the universe. And here I am now, a PhD researcher using Raman spectroscopy to learn the rules of microscopic worlds of nanotechnology and two-dimensional systems. With modern technology and high-speed computing, it is easy to acquire lots and lots of data – the hard part is finding the deeper meaning and connections within. And once you have found it, it is essential to communicate your findings with the world effectively – otherwise, your gained knowledge is lost again. One skill I learned to love is the visualization and presentation of data: Telling a story with diagrams, the thrill of giving a well-prepared talk, and the transfer of knowledge to your peers. One part of my day-to-day job is programming and optimizing scripts for data acquisition and analysis with Python. Again, programming, a world with clearly defined rules, fascinated and motivated me to learn more. So, I started working on my own small projects in decentralized applications, finances, web design, and AI. I learned Solidity, JavaScript, HTML, and much more on the way. And who knows, maybe someday one of these projects will become bigger.

Phd ResearcherTechnische Universität Dresden Jan 2020 - Dec 2023Dresden, SachsenI have done my PhD in experimental physics at Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. The main focus of my research was the implementation of a cutting-edge Raman Spectroscopy technique: Broadband coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (B-CARS). BCARS finds many applications in the biomedical field, e.g. for cancer research. I have utilzed the increased signal intensity of B-CARS for crystalline materials and show the possibility for fast imaging of domain walls. The measurements were done on a Horiba LabRAM microscopy system.The analysis of B-CARS data requires multiple algorithmic steps. For this I created PyPromitor, a Python based wrapper of Horibas' LabSpec6 software. This allows for fast data analysis and measurement automation. -
