I have over fifteen years of early care and education experience, starting with my own licensed home daycare. I started my career at Urban League Head Start in 2003 as a Teacher Assistant, and by 2016 I had promoted to a Master/Lead Teacher. In this role I supervised, trained-planned and lead workshops, coached and supported a staff of teachers on developmentally appropriate practices as they relate to the Creative Curriculum, best practices in early care and education and Missouri Learning Standards. As part of my role in education, I also have knowledge of Missouri licensing and NAEYC accreditation guidelines in early care and education. During my tenure at Urban League Head Start, I also served as an interim Center Coordinator, managing and supervising the daily operation of a center with 174 students, and 24 staff. Most recently, I worked as a Mentor Teacher/Coach at the Urban League Head Start-Magnolia Center. This was a consultant position where I served as a resource for classroom staff, assisting in management of the learning environment. My main role was mentoring staff with planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate practices, lessons plans and activities that concentrated on the four areas of development-social/emotional, physical, cognitive and language. I provided intervention strategies for challenging behaviors, as well as systems for planning, filing, tracking and documenting children's educational records.
