As Secretary for the Inland Transport Committee during a one-year assignment, I am in charge, among others, of developing the climate change mitigation strategy for the inland transport sector and ensuring a key focus on climate change mitigation and adaptation as part of the policy agenda.

As Secretary (P4), I have significantly developed the workplan, developed a long-term strategy until 2030, strengthened linkages with the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction and significantly developed strategic partnerships. Under my leadership, in close cooperation with colleagues, we have developed the work in the areas of Natural-hazard triggered technological accidents (Natech) and mine tailings safety. At the same time, I have led, as coordinator, the work under the Nexus on Smart and Sustainable Cities (2018/2019) and since 2021, led the organization's work on disaster risk reduction, as coordinator, leading a Group of focal points, consulting with senior management, strengthening partnerships and the visibility of our DRR-related activities.

As Environmental Affairs Officer (P3 and then P4), I led, as secretary, the Working Group on Strategies and Review, as well as the Compliance Committee, in cooperation with colleagues. I supported and shaped the policy review and the development of recommendations arising from a Scientific Assessment Report.

During my two years as Acting Secretary (P-4), I led the organization of CoP-10, including the 10-year anniversary of the Convention's Assistance Programme, further developed the Programme of work, attracted additional funding and consolidated the team.

As Environmental Affairs Officer (P-3) with the Convention on Long-Range Transboundary Air Pollution, I acted as secretary to the Compliance Committee and had lead responsibility for servicing the Working Group on Strategies and Review and the Executive Body, in close cooperation with the secretary. I further developed the policy and cross-sectoral work, notably by introducing focused thematic discussions (e.g. on air pollution and energy, and air pollution and transport) and strengthened the secretariat's substantive engagement.

At the UNECE/WHO Protocol on Water and Health, I serviced as Environmental Affairs Officer (P-3) the related Working Group, Compliance Committee, and prepared and negotiated a project on setting targets on water and health in the Republic of Moldova.

Working with the UNECE Forestry and Timber section, as Associated Economic Affairs Officer (P-2) and then as Economic Affairs Officer (P-3), I covered cross-sectoral issues in relation to climate change, energy and water (e.g. by organizing the European Forest Week and leading the development of the Forest Sector Outlook Study), and developed the new work area on Payments for Ecosystem Services (PES), leading related partnership engagements and the preparation of a discussion paper. I had lead responsibility, in close cooperation with the Chief, for servicing the UNECE Timber Committee and FAO European Forestry Commission.
