I am very much interested in science education/communication and professional development. My career path so far reflects my passion and commitment for improving the teaching and learning of science (chemistry in particular) through professional development. Before pursuing a doctorate in the U.S., I earned a bachelor and master degree from Heidelberg University in Germany. I have taught a range of courses, including but not limited to chemistry and professional development, in Germany as well as in the U.S. Recently, I was involved in supporting professional development efforts, in particular teaching assistant training. Thus I seek to continue to improve student learning through evidence-based practices. I am passionate about teaching, communicating science through outreach and practicing and teaching evidence-based methods to effectively convey content to learners and teachers alike. My work is continuously inspired and enriched through various evaluation methods to best address the learners’ needs, may they be students or teachers. At experimenta I focus on designing offers for schools and educational institutions to improve their experiences and learning in-house. Furthermore, I invest in educating teachers-to-be on what it means to learn and teach in an informal learning environment. We also do educational research in our science center to understand learning processes and improve our offers continuously.
