We are a group of international students who seek to improve young people’s knowledge about the European Union and its current issues. Recent events have shown the ever increasing relevance the EU has to the Member States and its citizens. In the future, many people predict, the EU will assume an even more active role in people’s lives. However, European affairs are often neglected in the curricula of public education facilities which hampers especially young people to make full use of the democratic rights the Union bestows upon them. Liter of Light Netherlands is a student association that is part of a global network with the aim to provide an ecologically and economically sustainable source of light to underprivileged households that do not have access to electricity or have difficulties to afford electricity.The source of light consists of a plastic bottle filled with a water solution which is embedded in the roofs of houses. The solar bottle harnesses the light from the sun, capturing and diffracting the light to all parts of the room.
