Sans Frontières is an education center, teaching french teenagers (from 14 to 17 years old) to develop an open mind, social skills and interest to foreigner cultures. During 3 weeks, a group of 16 to 24 teenagers will travel to a specific country carrying backpack tents and gas cooking gear. Guided by group leaders they have to develop a travel project, find local transportation, places to sleep, have to handle cooking dinner and preparing lunches etc.Role as a group leader : Budget management, logistics, coaching and supervision of travel projects, conflicts management, team management (tasks permutation in subgroups: cooking, transportation, visits planning, night camp site ... ) Implementation of innovative and entertaining games / activities to get the teenagers to mix and interact with local cultures. Skills obtained:¤ Team management: managing conflicts between participants, managing every day organization of the itinerary camp.¤ Budget management: along the three weeks, budget will be at the responsability of the group leader who manages the spending.¤ Creativity and pedagogy: explaining myself to the group and what I expect from them, also inviting everyone to express themselves. Regular group meetings gave the possibility for everyone to either speak up or write down feedback on organizational points, on management staisfaction etc.¤ Understanding of each individual needs. A team is composed by as many different individuals of different age, sex, race, of complete different backgrounds and with complete different ways of thinking and living. Yet all these individuals were facing the same challenges in this project, throwing them out of the house and out of the parents sleeping in drastic conditions and cooking with very simple tools, meeting people with no common language. Despite differences everyone has to learn to handle the objectives of the team.
