Primary technical position for practice's architectural functions, including new and existing domestic energy assessment. Lead role in delivering practice's diversification into Retrofit roles under PAS 2035.

I spent nearly 2 1/2 years as a timber frame design technician for Stewart Milne Timber Systems in their Tannochside office. I worked on a variety of social and private housing projects of varying size for most of our client base, including providing the majority of timber frame designs for our principal key client.

I started the company in March 2009 as it was proving difficult to gain employment and secured a contract with leading timber frame manufacturer for a 50+ social housing project in the north of Scotland. Since then I have been involved in a variety of projects with varying degrees of difficulty. I have provided designs which satisfy Levels 4 & 5 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and have great experience in all manner of timber frame construction methods.

I joined MK Timber Systems (European Timber Systems at the time, now Gladedale Timber Systems) at the brink of the economic downturn. I got the opportunity to work for DBM in the summer of 2005 and has proved to be my career defining step. Working with very competent colleagues and within a company of great reputation, I developed my skills in timber frame design and this formed the foundations of my chosen career. I still have regular contact with everyone who works there on both a professional and personal level.
