I lead the Architecture+Planning Division of Brown&Co, which includes dedicated design and planning teams in Norwich, St Neots and Lincoln. I am focused on project delivery and the management of the Chartered Architectural Practice and Chartered Planning Consultancy across the business, alongside an experienced and capable team delivering residential and commercial schemes across the East of England and beyond.

A balanced position in which both project work and practice development & management are required. Managing the Architectural+Planning team in the Norwich and Huntingdon office with both day to day project requirements and projecting longer term growth and opportunities. Guiding a growing team with project targets, client relationships, overall business growth, employee satisfaction and a high level of professional service.

Working holistically taking on all stages of projects from conception through to site completion both individually and with the wider design team. Having a role in the general organisation and management of the practice where necessary and looking at areas of potential growth and opportunities for the practice.

Whilst continuing with the architectural workload within the office, specifically the school and housing projects which are ongoing, I will also be developing links with clients, both new and current. Taking a more holistic role with the practice will mean developing schemes from initial concept through to construction with everything that involves in between. It is an exciting challenge and I look forward to developing the practices influence where possible.

Following qualification, I continue with my role on several major projects within the office and have expanded on the already extensive project range experienced to date. My aim is to co-ordinate the practices drive towards chartered status and will likely be involved in the implementation of the necessary standards and systems which this requires. Housing and School projects will continue to be the mainstay of current workloads.

I am not only responsible for production material on larger projects, in conjunction with other members within the office, but also have my own projects which I run the design, detailing and construction management for. Current project experience includes large scale school projects, bespoke private housing design and conversion/ extension projects on listed buildings. I am currently completing the Part 3 course at Birmingham and expect to qualify in December 2012.

Nearly two years full time construction experience with a small specialist building contractor who works on the conversion, extension and renovation of period and listed property. Developed a number of on-site skills which have been invaluable in better understanding the complete construction process and how to better design buildings. Working with the difficulties of historic and complicated projects was a fantastic experience and has been invaluable in designing for these buildings.

I was initially employed on a years contract to complete the Part 1 section of my Architectural qualification. During this time I developed technical drawing skills, building detailing experience and composing specification and tender packages. The practice was small and with the departure of the project architect I took on live site projects, inspecting and managing the contracts in conjunction with the company Director. The projects ranged from mixed use residential and commercial projects through to large industrial and logistics buildings. The range of projects and being able to experience the entire scope of projects was exceptional given my position. Following the completion of the initial year I remained with the practice for just over another year, with them sponsoring me through the first year of my BArch course. Due to course workloads I decided not to remain with the company for an additional second year.
