Responsible for leading and coordinating consultant’s and subcontractor design, technical, and statutory production information for standards and bespoke developments across the East region. Notable projects; The conversion of the Grade B listed Boroughmuir High School to 106 award winning luxury and affordable apartments. Newington residence Duties also involve:• Viability studies and coordinating of design and construction information for mixed use developments across the East Region • Representing CALA at Homes for Scotland TEAG technical forums, responding to Government policy consultations on behalf of CALA regional Board (2016-20)• Maintaining and improving the effectiveness of Central Design by liaising with each regional business to standardise and refine the quality of houstypes to maximise business growth and optimise operational efficiencies. (2016-18)• Preparing strategic + technical solutions in response to changes to Planning Policy and building regulations for CALA Board members. (2016-18)• Developing or refining new standard house type’s layouts as required. Coordinating production information; liaising with Partnership authority and LABBS to obtain statutory Scottish Type approvals for all Standard Product house types.(2016-18)

Responsible for the drafting and development of legislation to deliver Government Policy relating to Building Regulations and Climate Change, my duties include;• Technical Author for Energy, Sustainability, and Safety aspects of Building Regulations.• Implementing European and British Standards to Technical Handbooks.• Applying processes and procedures outlined in technical documents produced by organisations such as Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), and Building Research Establishment (BRE).• Liaising with EU and UK government departments on matters relevant to Building Regulations and Climate Change.• Project sponsor for the preparation, commissioning, and reviewing of research.• Drafting of public consultation documents including associated Strategic Environmental Assessments, and Business Regulatory Impact assessments.• Providing support to Ministers, preparing responses for Parliamentary questions, Ministerial correspondences, and background notes for speeches and public engagements.• Producing reports and articles for technical publications and research projects. • Participating in public speaking engagements, workshops and dissemination events.• Providing support and responses to other Government departments, designers, local authorities and the general public on policy and technical issues.

A Medium sized Architectural practice contracted to rationalise the Ministry of Defence RAF, Army and Navy building stock across Scotland. As the primary point of contact I was responsible for the production and coordination of the design and construction information for a variety of a MoD facilities including a BREEAM rated excellent Physical and Training Facility, Single Living Accommodation, Medical Centre, and a Transport Storage and Repair operations workshop. Duties included;• Stakeholder liaison and design team coordination.• Feasibility studies, conceptual design and building surveying.• Statutory applications and consents.• Detail design, tender and construction work packages. • Project and contract administration.• Management of internal resources and programme control.• On-Site surveys, investigations and inspections.• Co-ordination of the in house Quality Management (ISO 9001) & Environmental Management (ISO 14001) systems and accreditations.• Ensuring compliance with the HSE obligations and in particular CDM regulations, including the provision of construction method statements.

Working within a large Architectural practice contracted to deliver PPI Primary and Secondary schools throughout Scotland my responsibilities involved:• Design and tender bid proposals for Primary / Secondary schools.• Planning Application and Building Warrant submissions.• Detail design & construction work packages.• Computer generated 3D renderings and presentations.• Ensuring compliance with HSE obligations; and CDM Regulations.

A medium sized Architectural practice involved in a variety of commercial, industrial, and Housing Association work. I assisted Architects across a several projects, my duties included:• Document proposals for Planning Application and Building Warrant submissions for new builds, alterations and extensions.• Design, detail and construction specifications for existing and proposed buildings.• Site surveys and investigations, including extensive building surveying and recording of a Grade A listed Victorian textile mill for the conversion to executive apartments.
