I would also build 6m columns in-situ, working inside the lift/stair core, work on the slabs and other fixing that was required to do without correct drawings or materials. When I arrived on the site they were still excavating down to basement level and the retaining wall was still going being constructed. I was in charge of direct labour and the engineers. We set out and excavated for all the column bases going in underneath the slab. I also set up a compound and welfare area that was to be adequate for 200+ workforce and office space big enough for 40+ Managers. Then I was a block manager with a gang of Fixers and Shuttering Joiners and we started to construct the first two towers of a 3 Phase 4 Tower project. My roles and responsibilities:Interface with Clients and Workforce. Make sure that programs are followed and that trades meet target deadlines. Keeping the project within the cost plan and keep variations and alterations to a minimum. Building good relations with both sub-contractors on site and the clients. Ensure the safe delivery and unloading of materials. Issuing Hot Work, Ladder and Dig Permits. Inducting new starters and visitors. Package Management including the successful handle and delivery of those packages. Ensuring the site is kept safe and secure. Putting the labourers to work and ensuring they get paid and that they're looked after. Making sure the site is safe to work on (daily checks). Working at Height coordinator which means dealing with any new MEWP that enters site. Making sure all MEWPs undergo a plant reception check and have an in date ROTE. Ensuring those vehicles are checked on a daily basis. Interpretation of scale drawings and schedules. Understanding and implementing Health & Safety laws. Carrying out weekly Plant Inspections.
