Established the genomics sector of the Flow Cytometry and Genomics Core Facility at the Barrow Neurological Institute, where I analyze biological samples using R and Python. The projects at the institute focus primarily on measuring cell abundance and transcriptomic variability across populations with diverse neurological disorders and states. I perform library preparation for both bulk and single-cell sequencing, ensuring high-quality input for downstream analyses. To ensure reproducibility and efficiency, I implement containerized environments using Docker and utilize Nextflow/nf-core pipelines to process Illumina sequencing data and streamline data analysis workflows. Additionally, I design and implement flow cytometry panels tailored to specific research needs, enabling precise cell population analyses that drive impactful discoveries.During Grad school, I studied the evolution of SARS-CoV-2 variants, investigating correlations between viral evolution and epidemiological parameters. This work involved next-generation sequencing using Oxford Nanopore technology to analyze isolates and perform comprehensive selection analyses.In my post-baccalaureate research, I enhanced the phylogeny of microhylid frogs in Papua New Guinea using PCR amplification for 237 taxa and analyzed species composition in distinct microhabitats. I also studied morphological and biomechanical adaptations between jumper and swimmer species and co-authored a commentary on the misuse of the term "microbiome." Key skills include data analysis and management in R, image analysis with 3DSlicer and ImageJ, phylogenetic modeling in BEAST, and selection analyses using HyPhy.I’ve also taught undergraduate labs, helping students improve their lab skills, and gained experience in conflict resolution and multitasking through roles outside of academia. I aim to use my diverse skill set for impactful collaborations in genomics.
