Leading a team of seven continuous improvement coaches delivering the Tata Steel Strip Products UK Transformation programme known as The Journey. As well as making improvements in the production and functional process the coaches were also heavily involved in change management activities to help turn around the mindsets and behaviours in a very traditional heavy industry. This was a very challenging position requiring a high degree of integrity and personal commitment to raise the standards across the business. I had responsibility for personal development needs of the group and for acting as the link to the senior leadership on site to ensure alignment with strategic goals through our strategy deployment process.

Acting as the Continuous Improvement Coach for the Business Services organisation of Tata Steel Strip Products UK. Much of this work was concentrated on one of the Transformation Programme key projects to improve site wide security and eliminate fraudulent transactions and reduce theft from the site. The site is an integrated steelworks of ~10,000 people and is 4 miles by 3 miles wide with three main gates. The Entry Experience Project required a full time project team of 8 people and took 18 months to complete affecting all 10,000 people in terms of access and egress systems such as car passes and barrier controls. I coached the team through Prince 2 project management techniques and the use of FMEAs to analyse the risks before and after the project.
