A rewarding part of my experience has been to have helped people along the way - to have helped them build skills, to have provided them with additional education, and to have created new opportunities for them. In a few cases, we've been able to help people grow beyond their expectations and dreams. We've helped many provide for their families a little better than they had expected and we celebrated their accomplishments with them. These things have been, and continue to be, important to me.I became a dealer at 21. Even though I'd worked in the family business for a good part of my life, what I didn't know about operating a dealership was far greater than what I did know. I worked with a group of employees who were wonderful people, but lacked the skills and knowledge we needed to be successful. By necessity, we set about to learn together. That experience was one of the great blessings of my life. It set a pattern for my career. I learned the value of growing the people who would grow our business. Today, we hire people with all levels of education - from those with a high school diploma, to those with advanced degrees from some of the best universities and colleges in the country. All of them make important contributions to our success.
