Fred has more than 30 years’ experience in design, documentation, and construction of electrical and communications systems for the transportation, mining, buildings, and defence sectors. For the last 18 years Fred has worked as a senior engineer. He has extensive experience in road services design with a good knowledge of road standards and specifications. He has worked closely with the local transport project teams to produce finished products that meet both local and general needs of the road authority requirements.His ITS experience covers: system architecture and integration; wireless and fibre optic communications systems; managed motorways including ramp metering, variable message signs, ANPR camera systems, CCTV Cameras, Webcameras, VSL/LCS, traffic signals, vehicle detection and classification systems. His work has included preliminary conceptual designs, site inspections to determine condition and compliance to current standards of existing equipment, design reports, detailed design documentation, supplementary specifications and cost estimates. As part of the design process Fred has worked with stakeholders who included the RTA, TMR, DPTI, Vic Roads, local councils, supply authorities, Queensland Rail, Railcorp, and local airports. Fred has also worked as an Independent Verifier of the ITS on the Ipswich Motorway Upgrade project and the Gateway Upgrade Project.
