The fire service, just like the rest of the world, is changing at an amazing pace. Many in the fire service struggle just to keep their head above water and certainly aren't making any headway. I believe that we need to students of past and understand and respect those that came before us. I also believe that we must look towards the future at all times because that is where we are going, whether we like it or not.I believe in hard work, education, and learning from my experiences - both good and bad. I also believe that I have a duty, as an instructor, to pass on that education and what I have learned from experience to my students and to those that will follow in my foot steps. No matter what role I find myself in in the fire service, I realize that continuing education and being a lifelong student of the fire service are important to my effectiveness as an instructor. The more I learn the more I realize that there is so much work to be done to provide efficient and effective service to our communities that the future is now. There is not a moment to be wasted.
