I am an electrical engineer with a background in signal and image processing and artificial intelligence. I am interested in exploring audio, image, video, multimedia, speech, and language processing. I have always been fascinated by our ability to get meaningful information from the world around us. How do we recognize objects, people, and music? How do we understand what other people are trying to communicate to us? What do we focus on that helps us to find out what we are looking for? I see signal processing as an effort to extract meaningful information from signals. For example, when we want to study frequency content, we probably would compute a Fourier Transform. In addition to signal processing, I also have extensive experience with neural networks which I have used to train algorithms for atmospheric remote sensing. Throughout my career, I have used signal processing and neural networks to do such things as look for precipitation in satellite images and objects in sonar data.
